Deadline: 29-Oct-21
The Robert Bosch Stiftung and its partners Orient Matters and the Arab Reform Initiative are calling for innovative project ideas addressing the nexus of conflict, climate change and environmental governance on a local, national, or regional level in the Middle East.
- Based in the Middle East region, with a strong focus on locally led solutions to environmental or climate-induced challenges (projects can be implemented on a local, national, or regional level).
- The links and dynamics between conflict, climate change and/or environmental governance are essential parts of the approach (including but not limited to fields such as water/resource management, food security, or urbanization).
- Different sectors are addressed and integrated in the implementation process (e.g. civil society, administration, media, research institutions, education).
- They especially encourage local actors to apply given the importance of their assessment of the situation on the ground and that of locally-led governance, in line with the Robert Bosch Stiftung’s approach in the topic Peace.
- Innovative approach (e.g. new approach in the region or innovative with regard to the proposed activities), with the potential for scalability and wider application.
- Outcome and impact of the project are expected to be sustainable.
- The implementing institution(s) show(s) a willingness towards learning and reflection, and to sharing this knowledge with others through wider stakeholder engagement.
- A project may consist of different elements (i.e. different activities/formats) and steps. Projects with a single focus on research/science/data are not eligible for funding.
- The minimum budget they can allocate to each project is 40 000 EUR, the maximum budget 80 000 EUR.
- Funding will be granted for up to 3 years. Projects with a shorter time span are eligible for funding as well. However, for administrative reasons, the implementation of projects cannot begin before 1st March 2022.
- In the context of this call, the definition of the Middle East encompasses Bahrain, Iraq, Iran, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen. Countries in North Africa are not covered by this call.
- One of the organizations involved in the project team needs to have non-profit/charitable status. You will be asked to submit all relevant information and legal proof of this institution’s legal status if your proposal advances to the second phase of the application process.
