The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) is inviting applications for projects supporting women’s participation in local, regional and national peace processes.
The project is looking to fund work in Women, Peace and Security (WPS) focus countries outlined in the UK’s Fifth National Action Plan (NAP).
Objectives
- Projects should also show how they:
- Support and champion women’s rights organisations, women peacebuilders and human rights defenders (at any level).
- Support opportunities for women’s meaningful participation in dialogues and discussion on defence and security and peace processes.
Sectors
- Climate change, Education, Empowerment and Accountability, Girls and Women, Humanitarian Emergencies/Disasters, Peace and Access to Justice, Research.
Funding Information and Duration
- The total grant agreement will be for a maximum of £850,000. A maximum of £500,000 is available in FY 2023/24, and a maximum of £350,000 is available in FY 2024/25. Please ensure bids do not exceed these maximum values.
- The project is expected to commence as soon as possible, and run until 31st March 2025 (i.e. covering Financial Year 2023/24 – 2024/25).
- Suppliers should only bid for this funding if they are confident that they can absorb this level of funding and deliver the proposed within these timescales.

- Afghanistan, Congo (Democratic Republic), Ethiopia, Iraq, Libya, Myanmar, Nigeria, Somalia, South Sudan, Syria, Ukraine, Yemen.
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible Organisations
- Non-governmental organisations (NGOs), UK-based non-profit organisations, UK-based small and diaspora organisations, Educational institutions, Humanitarian relief organisations, Organisations based in Low to Middle Income Countries (LMIC).
- They are inviting proposals from organisations who meet the following organisational criteria:
- Established track record over 10 years working on WPS/NAP in UK NAP priority geographies.
- Established country offices and extensive networks, involving local organisations.
- Experienced leadership and core staff.
- Extensive experience working with grassroots women’s rights activists, peacebuilders, mediators etc.
- Ability to absorb the funds requested and deliver them alongside programme activities within the timeline required.
- Preference for women-led organisations.
