The Government of South Australia has announced the applications for Regional Event Fund to recognize the huge impact that COVID-19 has had on the events sector in South Australia.
The Regional Event Fund is designed to strengthen the state’s regional events calendar and drive economic stimulus across the regions beyond the traditionally peak summer tourism period.
Through the South Australian Tourism Commission, the State Government is committing an additional $1 million to South Australia’s regional events in 2021/22 to strengthen the regional events calendar by encouraging the development of new and innovative regional events, grow existing events, and drive increased visitation and economic stimulus to the regional economy.
Aims
The Regional Event Fund aims to:
- Strengthen the regional events calendar
- Drive regional visitation in the immediate term and lead to repeat visitation
- Increase event specific visitor expenditure, particularly from interstate
- Assist in COVID-19 recovery – recognising that events provide a vibrant and positive social environment for communities
- Promote a year-round calendar of regional events
- Encourage sustainable event opportunities to build long term capability
- Increase collaboration and partnerships among regional event stakeholders, government and commercial partners to deliver stronger outcomes for regional events.
Categories
- Significant Event Funding (from $50,000)
- Established Event Funding ($20,000 to $50,000)
- Development Event Funding ($10,000 to $20,000)
- Emerging Event Funding ($5,000 to $10,000)
Eligibility Criteria
- Significant Event Funding
- Events are large-scale signature events that generate significant economic benefits for the state and align with wider government and strategic priorities.
- The event is typically world class triggering interstate and international visitation to South Australia.
- The event provides a strong media profile for the state, often including a national and international broadcast.
- The event will provide a sustainable legacy for the state, offering additional opportunities to leverage or host other major events.
- Established Event Funding
- Your event is in at a minimum in its fifth year.
- Your most recent event (pre COVID-19) attracted a minimum attendance of 6,000 with 20% of those attendees travelling from intrastate and 10% travelling from interstate.
- You can demonstrate how funding will enable your event to grow its intrastate and interstate visitation, including length of stay.
- If you have received funding previously from the Regional Events & Festivals Program you have provided the required post event report & survey evaluation data.
- Development Event Funding
- Your event is in at a minimum in its third year.
- Your most recent event (pre COVID-19) attracted a minimum attendance of 2,000 with 20% of those attendees travelling from intrastate.
- You can demonstrate how funding will enable your event to grow.
- If you have received funding previously from the Regional Events & Festivals Program you have provided the required post event report & survey evaluation data.
- Emerging Event Funding
- Your event will deliver a clear return on investment and aligns with SATC strategic initiatives such as 2021 The Year of South Australian Wine.
- You can demonstrate how funding will be utilised to support your event in its infancy.
- If you have received funding previously from the Regional Events & Festivals Program you have provided the required post event report & survey evaluation data.
