The Heritage Council is seeking applications for the Heritage Sector Support Fund 2021 to strengthen/stabilize the heritage sector in Ireland by providing support towards the core costs for heritage organisations.
The Heritage Sector Support Fund scheme builds on the information gathered by the Heritage Council during 2020 on the impact of COVID 19 pandemic is having on the heritage sector.
Objectives of the Scheme
- To help organizations to recover from the economic impact of the pandemic and become financially sustainable in the future.
- To support organizations in delivering a programme of work that contributes to heritage priorities at a national level.
Funding Information
- An allocation of approximately €900,000 will be made available in 2021 under this scheme.
- The maximum amount available per organization is €50,000.
- They envisage the average offers to be in the €15,000 – 30,000 range and that approximately 30 organizations will be supported by this scheme.
What can Organizations can apply for?
Costs to help organizations recover from the impacts of COVID 19 pandemic and to deliver on heritage priorities at a national level. Applicants are asked to provide a programme of work for 2021 covering at least one of the following:
- Plans which assist their recovery from the economic impact of the COVID 19 pandemic and that helps organizations become more financially resilient.
- Initiatives which deliver heritage priorities based on programmes that organizations are running already.
Note: The Heritage Council is not proposing that new projects be started to avail of this funding but that existing core programmes can be protected.
Who can apply?
Not for profit, heritage-focused organizations with a demonstrated national relevance.
- The purpose of the organization must relate to one of the aspects of heritage mentioned in the Heritage Acts 1995, 2018, or organizations engaged in the protection of intangible cultural heritage as part of Ireland’s commitments to the 2003 UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
- Demonstrated national relevance – the organization must carry out work that has application at a national scale or, its work is being used to inform policies at a national scale.
- Programme of Work – the organization must be undertaking innovative small to medium scale actions that provide clear outcomes that assist in the delivery of one or more of the following – the Heritage Council’s strategic plan 2018 -2022; the National Biodiversity Action Plan; Culture Ireland 2025 and the emerging national heritage plan, Heritage Ireland 2030.
