The Institut de la Francophonie pour le développement durable (IFDD), a subsidiary body of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), received funding from the Delegation of the European Union in Haiti to improve the citizen involvement of the Haitian youth for inclusive, sustainable and resilient growth to climate change and natural disasters.
The project “Support for the participation and action of Haitian youth in favor of the environment and sustainable development” mainly aims to support the creation of a favorable and inclusive environment for the participation of Haitian youth in public governance, sustainable development (SD), while contributing to improving the employability of young people through non-formal education, vocational training, vocational guidance, support for innovation and entrepreneurship.
This project intends to support a favorable and inclusive ecosystem for:
- participation in the governance of Sustainable Development
- vocational training and action in Haiti in the environment and sustainable development sector
- social and financial accessibility for thousands of young Haitians to educational devices and resources to promote their entrepreneurship
- the provision of material and financial means necessary for the strengthening of youth organizations and the emergence of innovative projects in favor of sustainable development and adapted and support for popular education.

Priorities
Applicants must demonstrate how they will achieve one or more of the following priorities:
- Promote the participation and capacity building of youth to better contribute to public debate and to the formulation and monitoring of public policies, in particular on issues of citizen and democratic participation, environmental protection and the fight against against climate change, digitization, food security, health, etc.
- Improve the employability of young people through non-formal education, vocational training, guidance, innovation and entrepreneurship (incubators), etc.
- Support youth actions aimed at peace, conflict resolution, social cohesion and awareness of major contemporary issues such as environmental protection (mediation and promotion of dialogue at local and community level, cultural activities, etc.)
- By submitting their application, applicants authorize the Contracting Authority, the Commission, OLAF and the Court of Auditors to exercise their power of control over documents and information, even those stored in electronic form, or at the premises of the recipient.

Eligibility Criteria
- Support for 10 youth organizations committed to environmental protection and sustainable development in Haiti
- Be a legal person able to mobilize thousands of young people
- Be formally registered before 2018 (Haiti)
- Have implemented 2 projects related to SD or youth with a budget greater than € 5,000
- Have an annual budget of more than 10,000 €
- Justify the skills necessary to carry out the proposed project (CV, diplomas, reports and any relevant evidence to be attached to the application)
- Be responsible for the activities funded under the project
- Support for 100 innovative self-entrepreneurship projects in favor of environmental protection and sustainable development (Young people with sustainable business projects)
- Criteria on project leaders:
- Young students and graduates of schools, universities and training centers.
- NB: special attention will be given to technicians or engineers, registered or graduated from technical universities and engineering schools, or members of professional associations and research centers with relevant skills or experience in project management
- Be responsible for the activities funded under the project
- Criteria for projects:
- Projects responding to sustainable development issues, coherence of the issue, objective, approach, methodology, innovative character, implementation schedule, anticipated benefits, quality of deliverables, link between results and sustainable development priorities, project frugality, gender dimension
- Criteria on project leaders:
- Support to the media for the dissemination of content in favor of citizenship, the environment and sustainable development in Haiti
- To be a legal person
- Be formally registered before 2018 (Haiti)
- Have a good national base,
- Justify an existing online community (the number of subscribers or the online audience must be indicated in the application)
- Proving a sufficient audience with young people
- Have completed a media content production project dedicated to young people
- Have a journalist or community manager and a project manager.
