Deadline: 5-Aug-25
The “Call for Applications for Roma and pro-Roma non-profit Organizations” from RomanoNet is open to civil society organizations registered and operating in the Czech Republic or Slovakia. The deadline for applications is August 5, 2025.
Organizations promoting fundamental rights and European Union values, strengthening Roma communities, and supporting the emancipation and participation of the Roma minority are eligible for this grant.
The challenge objectives include strengthening the capacities of Roma and pro-Roma civil society and communities to promote EU values such as human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law, and human rights, including minority rights. Additionally, the initiative aims to promote access to basic human rights for Roma men and women, advance equality and social inclusion, and foster a human rights approach to the situation of Roma people.
It also seeks to fight against anti-Gypsyism, monitor the implementation of national strategies for Roma minority integration at local, regional, and national levels, develop cooperation between Roma communities and public institutions, and strengthen collaboration between Roma and non-Roma civil society.
A total of EUR 300,000 is allocated to support projects in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, with a maximum grant amount of EUR 30,000 per project. Supported projects must be implemented between January 1, 2026, and August 30, 2027.
Eligible activities for grant support include those aimed at developing organizational capacities, experts, or community members, such as training, coaching, workshops, mentoring, and other non-formal education tools. Awareness-raising activities targeting the general public, including communication events, campaigns, creation and dissemination of materials, public events, and cultural projects, are also supported.
Furthermore, advocacy and monitoring activities focused on strengthening the rule of law and representing disadvantaged groups—like legal advice, advocacy work, community organizing, monitoring and evaluation of government policies and programs for the Roma minority, and preparation of professional publications—are encouraged.
Finally, community initiatives that promote active citizenship and the involvement of Roma and other societal members, such as local activities, volunteer initiatives, or support for grassroots movements, are eligible.
Civil society organizations registered and actively operating in the Czech Republic or Slovakia can apply if they are not established for profit, can carry out paid economic activity and employ workers, and their main goal is not to represent economic or professional interests of their members.
They must have been founded on the initiative of individuals or groups, include elements of volunteering, and act in the public interest and sphere for the benefit of people, certain groups, or society as a whole, without seeking political power.
Eligible organizations must also operate democratically, transparently, and participatorily, with elected or appointed leadership accountable to members and supporters, publish annual reports on their activities and financial performance in accordance with applicable law, and have no outstanding obligations to the state.
