The International Women’s Media Foundation (IWMF) is pleased to provide grants to support reporting focused on reproductive rights in the U.S. and Latin America Program.
These grants support reporting of untold stories surrounding issues that impact people’s daily lives in the region.
Grants will vary depending on the need, scope, and location of the project. Grant funds may be used to cover travel and logistics, security costs, insurance, and other reporting expenses. The IWMF expects to announce grant recipients in September 2022. All reporting and publishing must be completed by January 31, 2023.
Eligibility Criteria
- This opportunity is open to women and nonbinary journalists.
- Applicants may be freelance or staff journalists and may apply individually or as part of a team.
- Professional journalism must be the applicant’s primary profession.
- Applicants must have three (3) or more years of professional journalism experience. Internships do not count toward professional experience.
- Applicant must be able to show proof of interest from an editor or have a proven track record of publication in prominent media outlets.
- Applicants may apply in English or Spanish. The published work can be in any language.
- A strong preference will be given to multimedia transnational reporting teams focusing on opposition to reproductive rights groups in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Honduras, and Mexico, and their link to groups in the U.S.
