Applications are now open for The Red Apron Community Fund bursary for an Indigenous youth, looking to study Culinary Arts or Organic Farming in the Community.
Funding Information
- Available for Granting: $2500/Calendar Year for a maximum of 2 years. Funds are paid directly to the Program Facility and must be utilized in the 2023/2024 school calendar years.
Eligibility Criteria
- To qualify, applicants must attest to the following:
- Identify as Indigenous and be between the ages of 18 and 25 years. Proof of First Nations, Métis or Inuit status may be requested.
- Be a Canadian Citizen residing in the National Capital Region
- Be committed to registering for studies in Culinary Arts at Algonquin College or the Start Up Farm Program at the Just Food Farm for the 2023/2024 season
- Be 18 years or older at the time of making this application
- Applicants must include the following documents with their application:
- An essay explaining why this scholarship is important to the applicant and how the applicant plans to make a difference in their community through their work in the food or organic farming fields
- A letter of recommendation from a teacher who you studied under in your final year of high school
- A letter of recommendation from an employer or an employment experience, which could include volunteer work
- Proof of enrolment into either a Culinary Arts program at Algonquin College, or the Farm Start-up Program at the Just Food Farm, or a statement of commitment to do so.
- Applicants must include a summary of their costs related to their studies, and details explaining how this bursary will be helpful in their educational goals and timelines
