The Northern Territory (NT) Government is inviting applications for its International Restart Support Fund to provide a one-off, temporary marketing support fund opportunity for Territory tourism businesses.
Tourism NT recognizes the high importance of tourism businesses getting back into the international market in the short term. Due to COVID-19, international tourist numbers across Australia have declined and the need to re-establish NT brand awareness is key to returning international visitors.
Funding Information
- Territory tourism businesses can apply for a maximum of $15,000.
- The NT Government will contribute 3:1 of the total project value up to a maximum amount of $15,000 (excluding GST).
- The first payment (50%) is on receipt of the signed funding agreement.
- Second and final payment on acquittal and receipt of proof of expenditure.
Eligible Activities

New marketing activities eligible for funding support can include:

For all applicants
- contracting expert advice to determine international marketing potential
- developing an export marketing plan or receiving advice to assist with planning for international distribution; including rates and commission structures, target inbound markets, product alignment, etc.

For applicants who were active in international markets before 20 March 2020
- undertaking offshore social media and traditional marketing campaigns
- outsourcing the creation of market specific content, such as social media tiles and promotional resources (excluding photography/videography), including translation if needed
- developing or modifying e-commerce platforms, websites, and social media for international audiences
- participating in, holding, and/or traveling to virtual and/or face to face events and offshore tradeshows targeted at international visitors
- undertaking in-market sales call with travel trade
- other international marketing and promotional activities discussed and approved by Tourism NT.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, you must:
- be a Territory enterprise, meaning an enterprise operating in the Northern Territory that has a significant permanent presence in the Northern Territory and employs Northern Territory residents;
- have a significant tourism focus;
- have an up to date Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW) listing;
- be a member of a relevant peak body/association;
- be financially viable and have not had a liquidator or administrator appointed;
- have acquitted any previous funding received under the Department of Industry, Tourism and Trade (unless the activity is yet to occur); and
- be able to complete the activity before 30 June 2022.
- For-profit and not for profit organizations are eligible to apply.
- Agencies of Government, Local Government and Regional Tourism Organisations are not eligible to apply.
- Businesses that have received cooperative international marketing funding from Study NT are not eligible to apply for the same activity.
