Climatetracker.org with Clean Energy Wire is inviting applications for Research on Energy Transition in Latin America and the Caribbean to offer 12 scholarships through which they will seek to delve into why and how news coverage has overlooked such a critical issue as the energy transition in the region.
What is this program about?
- They will bring together 12 journalists and researchers to be trained in the analysis of media coverage, using a matrix that has already been successfully tested by Climate Tracker in other regions, but adapted to the particularities of Latin America.
- The 12 members of the program will be trained in the use of advanced media research tools and will address how the media covers the stories of energy and climate change in six countries in the region: Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Brazil, Mexico and the Republic. Dominican.
- The program has an initial duration of one month, extendable for another two months and is a paid opportunity.
- At the end of the three months, they will have participated in an unprecedented analysis of how energy transition stories are covered in Latin America and the Caribbean, together with identifying the main barriers and difficulties faced by journalists and editors with this topic.

What are they searching for?
Journalists and researchers from Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Brazil, Mexico and the Dominican Republic with experience in the media and investigations, under 35 years of age. Or, people from other professions with academic experience and / or related civil society, who have:
- A strong desire to improve as a researcher or journalist
- Availability to attend all training sessions (once a week for the first month)
- Interest in media analysis, methodologies and journalistic coverage
- Previous publications in national media
- PLUS: Experience in environment and climate change scores points in the application, although it is not exclusive.
