DOST is now accepting project proposals for Local Grants-In-Aid Program.
The GIA Program aims to harness the region’s scientific and technological capabilities to spur and attain a sustainable economic growth and development by funding relevant S&T undertakings designed to contribute to productivity improvement and quality of life of Filipinos by generating and promoting appropriate technologies.
Classifications
- Research and Development (Generation of Knowledge and Technologies)
- Creative work undertaken on a systematic basis to increase the stock of knowledge of man, culture and society. and the use of this stock knowledge to device new applications.
- Example: R&D Programs/Projects
- Research and Development Results Utilization (RDRU)- Diffusion of Knowledge and Technologies
- Technology utilization in dissemination of knowledge and innovation generated from R&D to reach the end-users, such as LGUs, policy makers, farmers, entrepreneurs, researchers, extension workers, industries and students.
- Example: Publication, Fora or Synopsis
- Development of Human Resources and R&D Institutions for the S&T Sector
- Interventions from the provision of high-quality formal education at all levels to specialized training, with a focus on young scientist and engineers, and the development, attraction and retention of the country’s S&T talents
- Example: Technology transfer, Capacity. Building activities such as Research Methods, Pitching, Ethics trainings etc.
- Provision of Quality S&T Services
- Provides grants to strengthen the S&T infrastructure to develop and upgrade national, regional, and local S&T capacities of institutions and centers of excellence
- Example: Facility enhancement thru R&D Programs and Projects
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a Filipino entity duly-registered with the appropriate government agencies;
- Must be either a government agency or its instrumentalities, educational institution, NGO, non-profit institution, private company, or a DOST-certified science foundation
