Deadline: 11-Jan-22
London Catalyst’s Grant Programme is now open to make a difference by acting as a ‘catalyst’ for change. This could be to develop a new project or improve existing services.
London Catalyst recognises there are social determinants of ill-health, and that for change to be sustainable, beneficiaries must be active and informed participants.
Aims
The aim is to:
- Improve health and wellbeing
- Help to remove people from poverty
- Raise awareness of the work of the organisations they support
Programmes
- Project Grants: Support new initiatives and service developments targeted at people disadvantaged as a result of long term ill-health, disability and poverty.
- Samaritan Grants: A hardship fund which they make available to frontline health, social work and advice agencies to offer immediate assistance to people in an emergency. The partner agency distributes small one-off grants on their behalf.
Types of Grants
- The annual grants budget is c£300,000 divided between two grant programmes:
- Project Grants: £1,000 – 5,000+ depending on the purpose, outcomes and size of the budget. A larger grant can sometimes be made if there is a likelihood of significant impact and it matches a current priority.
- Samaritan Grants: £100 – £2,000 Grants can be repeated annually subject to available resources, evidence of need and satisfactory reporting.
- The trustees will consider one application in a 12-month period. Grants are normally for one year.
Location
The area of benefit, the geographical range of the grant-making, is restricted to Greater London (within the M25 orbital motorway).
Eligibility Criteria
- London Catalyst prioritises small and medium sized organisations; those with an annual income of c£500,000. This is does not exclude groups with a larger income if the organisation has the resources and expertise that make it best placed to deliver a service or it is in partnership with local groups.
- They fund charitable groups and not-for-profit social action projects.
- The trustees will consider requests from CIOs and CICs subject to a review of the purpose, expertise and governance; an executive board must have at least three unrelated directors.
