Applications are now open for the Maine Charity Foundation Fund to support charitable and educational purposes within the State of Maine.
Priorities
Priority will be given to projects and organizations that:
- Use volunteers and have community partners
- Provide additional information and connections to assist riders with meeting other needs that exist beyond transportation
- Meet gaps in services or provide service where there is none or not enough currently
- Address inequities and engage a diverse range of older residents
- Creatively use existing resources
- Are clearly laid out and ready to implement.

- Max Award: $10,000
Types of Funding
This program provides:
- General support grants to transportation-focused organizations for ongoing staff and operational needs
- Project grant to organizations with transportation programs for new, expanding, or ongoing work.
Criteria
To receive a grant, an organization or project must:
- Provide transportation and/or delivery services to primarily older community members over 60.
Eligibility Criteria
- Nonprofit, charitable organizations tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and also classified as an organization described in sections 509(a)(1) or 509(a)(2)
- Municipalities
- Public schools
- Public agencies working for the State of Maine
- Indian tribal governments (or political subdivisions) recognized by the Department of the Interior
- Groups without any tax status may apply with a fiscal sponsor that is an eligible organization as described above.
