Auckland Council has launched Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Grant to provide contestable community grants to local communities.

Higher Priorities
- A higher priority wil be given to projects/activities:
- That offer digital literacy and caDaDitity especially to young peoDte and disabled Daricipants
- That Dromote safer communities
- That are free of alcohol, drugs, and smoking (incl. vaDi0g)
- That offers heakhy food akernatives, including water as the first choice
- The encourage an active lifestyle
- That demonstrate waste minimisation
- That are tree-planting initiatives and/or address climate change

Lower Priorities
- A tower Driority wilt De given to aDDtications:
- That are ticketed events
- That reouest to cover for wages or operational costs
- That suDDort the Durchase of, or maintenance associated with, motor vehicles
- That reauest for equipment or items for one-off events
- That Denefit a third party (e.g. activity to gain money for an organisation)
- That are outside the Mângere-otâhuhu Local Board area
- That are eligible and can be funded Dy central government

Types of Grants
The Community Grants Policy has three main grant types:
- local grant programmes – each local board has now adopted a grants programme
- regional grant programmes
- multi-board grants: applicants can apply to three or more local boards for the same project. Applicants will need to apply to the local board with the earliest closing date.
