The Markandaiah Small Grants Program offers funding for early stage conservation projects focused in the Western Ghats. The program intends to be a catalyst in bootstrapping new projects and early careers.
What You Get?
- A one-time grant of INR 5,00,000
- Mentorship support from CWS scientists
- Eligibility to reapply for a second grant after the project’s completion
What they Expect?
- Work on a project you believe is impactful and are passionate about
- An update on the project’s status every three months
- A report at the project’s end detailing your work and outcomes needs to be submitted
Project’s Requirements
- The project should be a new or early-stage project with a small number of well-defined scientific/ conservation goals.
- The project’s duration can be up to a year from when the grant is awarded.
- The grant amount should cover a majority of the project expenses.
- The project will not fund conference travel or publications.
- Projects can be individuals or teams up to three members. Requirements for members:
- Are Masters/PhD students or early into their careers (with less than 5 years of experience)
- Can demonstrate wildlife focus and conservation experience
