The Government of Saskatchewan is accepting applications for “Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls+ Community Response Fund” to promote and enhance prevention and build safety for Indigenous women, girls and Two Spirit+ people, along with their families and communities.
The Government of Saskatchewan is committed to advancing the safety of Indigenous women, girls, and Two-Spirited+ people through partnerships among and between Indigenous groups and non-Indigenous Saskatchewan citizens. The Ministry of Government Relations supports innovative projects focused on prevention that involve partnerships with First Nation and/or Métis communities, agencies or non-profit groups.
Funding Information
- All costs must be specific to the project.
- The Ministry may provide a maximum of $40,000 for projects.
- Maximum of 10 per cent of the grant provided by the ministry can be considered for administrative costs associated with the project.
- In-kind contributions are encouraged among the partner groups and may allow your group to target spending strategically.
Eligible Projects
- They are encouraging projects focused on:
- Prevention through partnership building and development; and
- Activities promoting and enhancing prevention that build safety for In-spdigenous women and girls and Twoirited+ people, their families and communities.
Ineligible Projects
- Projects that have received or will receive federal funding from Women and Gender Equity (WAGE) Canada for the National Plan to End Gender Based Violence. Note that the federal government may require applicants to repay funds for projects that receive WAGE funding.
- Projects that are already complete or more than halfway complete at the time of application.
- Existing staff salaries or wages.
- Administrative expenses over 10 per cent of the grant amount.
- Corporate/business projects intended to make a profit.
- Out of province travel.
Who can apply?
- An authorized representative(s) of a Saskatchewan-based:
- Local grass-roots Indigenous group;
- Indigenous non-profit group;
- Non-profit organizations and municipalities who are seeking authentic partnerships with Indigenous communities, such as:
- Local grass-roots Indigenous groups;
- First Nation Band Councils /Tribal Councils;
- Métis Locals/ Métis Regions; and
- First Nations or Métis agencies or representative groups.
- Non-Indigenous non-profit organizations with Indigenous involvement and whose programs/services benefit a primarily First Nations or Métis clientele.
- Authentic partnerships may include federal, provincial or municipal governments, non-profit organizations, educational institutions, First Nations, Tribal Councils, Métis Nation-Saskatchewan locals or regions, First Nations or Métis representative organizations, or private-sector firms.
- You must provide contact information for the project partners who may be contacted to confirm their participation.
