Applications are now open for the Moonee Valley City Council’s Community Grants Program to support community organisations, groups, individuals and local businesses contributing to the health and wellbeing of the municipality.
Aims
The Community Grants Program aims to:
- Improve the community’s quality of life and the liveability of the neighbourhoods
- Help the community to achieve the goals outlined in the long-term plans and strategies
- Address community need and make the most of unique local opportunities and strengths
- Foster and strengthen community involvement, participation and community-led initiatives
- Contribute to the social, cultural, economic, and environmental wellbeing of the local community
What grants are available?
- Grants for Community groups and not-for-profit organisations
- Responsive Grant: Community Support – up to $1,000
- Small community projects: start-up groups, street greening, neighbourhood activations, etc.
- Biannual Grant: Social Support – up to $1,500
- Operational funding for small social support groups run by volunteers
- Biannual Grant: Community Projects – up to $10,000
- One-off community projects and pilot programs, small capital works
- Biannual Grant: Climate Action – up to $10,000
- Renewable energy transitions and community projects promoting climate resilience
- Responsive Grant: Community Support – up to $1,000
- Grants for arts and events
- Biannual Grant: Arts & Events – up to $10,000
- Arts projects and events or festivals that benefit the Moonee Valley community (Businesses looking to hold an event should apply in the Business stream)
- Biannual Grant: Arts & Events – up to $10,000
- Grants for individuals
- Responsive Grant: Individual Participation – up to $500
- Supporting residents facing financial hardship to participate in select sports, arts and educational activities
- Responsive Grant: Individual Participation – up to $500
- Grants for local businesses, social enterprises, sole traders and trader associations
- Responsive Grant: Business Support – up to $500
- Small storefront and outdoor space beautification projects (e.g. paint refresh, signage, planter boxes, etc).
- Biannual Grant: Business Projects – up to $5,000
- Business-led projects that benefit the wider community and encourage local patronage.
- Biannual Grant: Climate Action – up to $5,000
- Energy Transition grants for renewable energy and efficiency upgrades (including installing solar panels, upgrading to energy efficient heating and cooling, upgrading to energy efficient appliances).
- Responsive Grant: Business Support – up to $500
Eligibility Criteria
- Depending on the category, applicants eligible for funding may be:
- Not-for-profit organisations, community groups, businesses / sole traders and individuals located and /or providing the activity within the City of Moonee Valley municipality.
- All projects must be completed within 12 months (except for Partnership Grants).
- Applicants that are not eligible to apply for funding:
- Applicants with outstanding acquittals, variations, debts or financiaVlegal disputes with the City of Moonee Valley.
- Applicants without Public Liability Insurance (unless granted an exemption as per the Public Liability Insurance Fact Sheet or Individual Participation applicants).
- Applicants whose values are inconsistent with Council’s values to promote diversity, tolerance and an inclusive community as outlined in Council’s adopted policies.
- Applicants who are abusive, aggressive or intimidatory towards Council staff.
- Applicants that attempt to canvass or solicit Councillors, Assessors or Council staff.
- Electronic gaming machine venue operators or sports betting companies.
Deadlines
- Responsive Grants are open monthly, with rounds closing on the first day of each month.
- Biannual Grants close at 5pm on Tuesday, 2 May 2023 for projects taking place in 23/24 financial year.
