Applications are now open for the Multicultural Media COVID-19 Response Grants.
The New South Wales (NSW) Government knows that the multicultural media sector has been impacted significantly as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
That is why $2 million of funding has been allocated to support the sustainability of multicultural media outlets in NSW which play an ongoing role in sharing public health updates and information with diverse communities during the pandemic.
Funding Information
- Grants of up to $50,000 per outlet are now available for multicultural media outlets in NSW to support production and editing costs, operating costs and developments in technology to help to deliver vital news services to new and hard-to-reach communities.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for grant funding an organisation must:
- be an existing multicultural media outlet that has been operating in this area for over 12 months
- be located within NSW
- demonstrate how their project will address the program criteria
- demonstrate a downturn in revenue due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic
- demonstrate increased demand in services or operating costs due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic
- submit an application online through the Multicultural NSW approved SmartyGrants portal before the closing date with all aspects of the application form completed
- if successful, complete an evaluation framework supplied by Multicultural NSW
- deliver the project and acquit the funds by the end of the 2021 calendar year.
Ineligible Activities
The following activities are excluded from receiving grant funding:
- purchase of equipment (unless it is essential equipment to achieve the improvement of technology to help media reach new audiences)
- external advertising to promote the recipient’s business
- projects supporting political activities cash prizes or gifts
