The West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner has launched My Community Fund Programme to encourage local people to bring forward ideas which reflect their local knowledge and understanding of how to improve community safety.
Objectives
- Funded projects must contribute to the Police and Crime Plan 2025-29 objectives:
- Rebuilding Community Policing
- Solve local problems with communities
- Prevent and tackle crime and anti-social behaviour
- Preventing and Tackling Violence
- Improving Road and Travel Safety
- Increase prevention and enforcement against the fatal four (speeding, drink and drug driving, not wearing seatbelts, and using mobile devices whilst driving).
- Increase third party reporting
- Prevent and tackle organised criminal street racing
- Clamp down on uninsured, untaxed, unsafe vehicles and illegal number plates
- Safer travel
- Preventing and Reducing Neighbourhood Crime
- Residential burglary
- Street robbery
- Theft of and from motor vehicles
- Crime against local businesses
- Fraud and online crime
- Protecting Victims and Witnesses
- Victims’ rights and welfare
- Access to justice
- High quality support services for victims
- Support by and for specialist services
- Amplify the voice of victims
- An Equal and Fair West Midlands
- Prevent and tackle hate crime
- Prevention and Rehabilitation
- Prioritise children and young people
- Protecting the vulnerable

Funding Information
- The money for the Fund – £330,000 in total – comes from cash that police have seized from criminals under the Proceeds of Crime Act, and it will be prioritised for locality-based projects, which aim to make a positive difference to deal with crime prevention and reduction and show a clear link to the Police and Crime Plan.
- Up to £5,000 will be given to each group.
Eligibility Criteria
- Organisation applying should be one of the following:
- Unincorporated Association
- Community Interest Company or Social Enterprise
- Registered Charity
- Company limited by Guarantee
- Registered Society
- The organisation has at least two directors/people on its board or committee.
- The organisation does not have a political purpose
- The organisation has a Constitution Document, outlining the rules that govern the group.
- The organisation has a separate bank account with at least two signatories in to which they can pay the funds.
- If the organisation is currently in receipt of PCC funding, the OPCC will check against performance or monitoring issues. In the event of issues raise, the application may be rejected.
- The organisation can provide up to date copies of all the relevant insurance documents if asked. If the organisation is aware of any insured risk, the organisation should state this in the application.
Ineligibility Criteria
- They do not fund:
- Individual requests for funding or sponsorship, for example sponsored walks
- Assets that will provide benefits to a private company or individuals rather than to the community
- Organisations or project to make payments to itself for the hire of accommodation or facilities
- Knife bins or defibrillators or bleed kits
- Activities that make a profit for private gain
- Applications from statutory organisations such as Local Authorities, Integrated Care Boards will not be accepted.
