The New Zealand High Commission in Pretoria invites applications under the New Zealand High Commission Fund to support community-based projects that contribute towards sustainable development in selected countries in order to reduce poverty and contribute to a secure, equitable and prosperous world.
The New Zealand High Commission Fund supports small scale and short-term capacity and skills development projects implemented by organisations in Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
The High Commission Fund can be used to support short-term community development projects in the areas of, but not limited to, sustainable agriculture, food security, environmental sustainability, capacity and skills building and job creation. In this round of applications, the New Zealand High Commission also invites qualifying organisations to submit applications towards COVID-19 response and recovery projects.
Funding Information
- The maximum grant funding per project is NZ$ 25,000.00 over a maximum duration of two years.
Eligibility Criteria
- The Fund is aimed primarily at community groups and NGOs but other types of non-profit organisations e.g. primary and higher education institutions may apply. The Fund does not support individual businesses.
- In this round of applications, the New Zealand High Commission also invites qualifying organisations to submit applications towards COVID-19 response and recovery projects.
- Ineligibility:
- political, religious or evangelical activities N.B. faith-based groups are not excluded where the proposed project is consistent with the purpose of the Fund, does not exclude followers of other religions, and the funds are not used to support proselytising,
- site visits,
- unsolicited donations,
- individual student scholarships,
- international airfares/overseas conference attendance,
- on-going (recurrent) funding of recipients’ operational/organisational costs such as wages and salaries, office items and communications.
