Applications are now open for the NIPSCO’s Public Safety Education and Training Action Grant to provide funding for community and youth public safety education programming and training for first responders.
The NIPSCO Safety Grant Committee evaluates requests on the following areas:
- Alignment with community needs, community visibility of projects/programs, value of projects/programs to community served, and capital investment requested.
- NIPSCO reserves the right to decline any request, change guidelines without notice or reduce any gift amounts in accordance with corporate budgets, program guidelines or conflict of interest with NIPSCO.
Areas of Giving
- Safety: Emergency Assistance & Disaster Preparedness, First Aid, Safety Education & Energy Safety
- Economic & Workforce Development: Retention And Attraction Of Job Opportunities; Energy Infrastructure; Community Vitality
- Environmental Stewardship: Protection and Restoration of Natural Resources, Energy Conservation and Environmental Education
- STEM and Energy Education: Science, Technology, Engineering, Math and Energy Education
- Basic Needs & Hardship Assistance: Food Shelter, Heating Assistance and Social Service
Funding Information
Grant funding is not intended for purchase of equipment other than needed to support public safety education programs and training. Grants available for $500 to $5000.
Eligibility Criteria
They provide contributions and volunteer time to 501(c) (3) organizations located within their service territory. They give preference to organizations that align with their giving areas and/or have high employee engagement or a board member. Eligible organizations must service the community without discrimination based on race, color, religion, natural origin or ancestry, veteran status, disability, gender age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic information or any other protected group status as defined by law. Notwithstanding the preceding, organizations that offer gender-based programs or have programs and services designed to benefit a specific population will not be considered discriminatory for this reason alone.
