The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is seeking applications for a cooperative agreement from qualified entities to implement the Central Europe (CE) program.
The Program will promote, among other democratic institutions, the resilience of independent, nongovernmental entities.
Objectives
- Increase the capacity and resiliency of civil society to promote democratic principles and protect fundamental freedoms
- Strengthen the competitiveness, financial independence, and sustainability of the independent media sector
- Build the watchdog skills of civil society and social movements to enhance rule of law observance, combat corruption, and increase access to justice
- Increase engagement of civil society in political processes

Funding Information
- Civil Society Resiliency Activity up to $10 million
- Independent Media Activity up to $10 million
- Rule of Law/Watchdog Activity up to $7.5 million
- Elections and Political Processes Activity up to $7.5 million
Geographic Coverage: Country specific and regional activities in the following countries: Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia.
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligibility for this NOFO is not restricted.
- USAID welcomes applications from organizations that have not previously received financial assistance from USAID.
- Faith-based organizations are eligible to apply for federal financial assistance on the same basis as any other organization and are subject to the protections and requirements of Federal law.
