Deadline: 25-Apr-22
The Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Mission to Pakistan is pleased to announce an open competition for grant proposals, contingent on funding availability, through the Public Diplomacy Grants Program.
PAS seeks proposals to establish a partnership between U.S. and Pakistani universities to build Pakistani capacity, to adapt to and mitigate climate change, and to ensure gender parity for women in environmental sciences in Pakistan. The partnership will facilitate curriculum development, collaborative research, virtual exchanges, sharing of resources, professional development, and exchanges.
Project Goals
- Build the capacity of Pakistani society to combat and mitigate climate change through a U.S.- Pakistan university partnership that explores curriculum development, environmental education, student and faculty engagement, research, and data sharing.
- Given the lack of representation of Pakistani women in the field of combatting global climate change, the goal is to equip a women’s university to better teach, research, and develop practitioners in the environmental science fields.
- By partnering with a U.S. university and sharing the best academic and professional practices, this opportunity aims to include women in the dialogue of global climate change, empower a new generation of women-led environmental efforts, and to further defend Pakistan from the effects of climate change.
Project Objective
- Project objectives may include:
- Enhancing the capacity of 10-20 faculty at a women university or university to teach, conduct research, and development environment and climate change curricula;
- Promoting environmental literacy, training, and education on climate change for approximately 100-200 U.S. and Pakistani students;
- Implementing exchange program(s) to enhance knowledge-sharing, travel conditions permitting;
- Using real-life case studies to develop action plans to address pressing environmental issues;
- Fostering young women’s participation and leadership on climate issues;
- Establishing a mentorship program between U.S. and Pakistani participants that promotes network/linkages with experts, leaders, practitioners, and activists of diverse backgrounds.
