The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced an open call for the Livestock Value Chain Research and Analysis Program.
Aims
USDA seeks to support research and analysis of the livestock value chain in Kenya and
- identify opportunities to increase the resilience and value of Kenya’s livestock sector through technical inputs, improved genetics, or other investments or collaborations, and
- if products or services from the U.S. agricultural sector can be leveraged to support and enhance the resilience and value of Kenya’s livestock sector.
Focus Areas
In particular, USDA expects opportunities may exist in:
- Cattle value chain
- Genetics
- Feed composition
- Strengthening Kenya’s food security as related to livestock
- Identifying trade and technical input opportunities for U.S. agriculture
- Opportunities to leverage existing U.S. investments in Kenya’s livestock value chain

- Total Available Federal Funding: $200,000
- Anticipated Number of Awards: up to 2
- Projected Period of Performance Start: September 28, 2022
- Projected Period of Performance End: September 30, 2023
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible Applicants: Any qualified organization
- The applicant may identify other areas of emerging importance within Kenya’s livestock value chain that should be addressed.
