The Northern Territory (NT) Government invites proposals from suitably qualified organisations for the provision of the Northern Territory Housing Support Program (the Program) to provide recovery-oriented psychosocial support for adults with mild to moderate mental illness to live independently within the community.
The Northern Territory Housing Support Program will develop strong and effective partnerships between, primary health care services, specialist Mental Health AOD services, and housing and other accommodation providers. The Program service provider will be supporting the recovery of people with mental illness who require support to maintain stable housing.
Objectives
- The Program is to support people experiencing mild to moderate mental illness and related psychosocial disability who experience episodic deterioration of condition(s) to live independently in the community through:
- The provision of psychosocial rehabilitation and support services that are flexible and responsive to an individual’s needs.
- Supporting access to clinical mental health care which is individualised and recovery focused.
- Supporting access to programs and services for people to improve their life skills and capacity to live as independently as possible in the community.
- Avoiding or reducing hospital admissions and the need to access crisis services through prompt detection of early warning signs of a mental health crisis and providing early intervention.
- Transition to sustainable permanent housing where appropriate and possible.
Funding Information
- Funding up to $900,000 per annum is available.
Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible to apply applicants must be:
- An organisation that is based and registered in the Northern Territory.
- Non-Government Organisations (NGO)
- Corporations
- Private and public companies
- Cooperative
- Sole trader
- Applicants must have an Australian Business Number (ABN) and be a legal entity as defined by the Australia Tax Office.
- Applicants must have current insurance coverage required to undertake the work for the Program, including Public Liability Insurance policy with the cover of a minimum of $20 million per event.
- Applicants must have appropriate organisational accreditation.
- Applicants must be able to deliver the requirements detailed in the NT Housing Support Program (The Program) Service Model.
- The organisation must also demonstrate.
- Skills – the organisation has a skilled workforce appropriately qualified to provide Social and Emotional Wellbeing / mental health support services and work collaboratively with a wide range of associated services. In particular:
- Comprehensive understanding of psychosocial support
- Capacity to undertake comprehensive client assessments
- Extensive experience in care planning with a recovery focus
- Ability to work in close partnership with a range of other service providers
- Cultural safety – Capacity to deliver culturally safe care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as well as other ethnic groups.
- Experience – the organisation has adequate operational, technical and reporting capacity to deliver this project.
- Outcome focus – there is a history of the organisation achieving successful program outcomes over a sustained period.
- Finance – the organisation has a track record of managing large recurrent budgets competently achieving balanced financial results.
- Governance – there is appropriate leadership, direction and guidance in the organisation to deliver complex programs.
