The Northwest Minnesota Foundation (NWMF) is seeking applications for its Building Systems Grant to prevent and end homelessness for youth and young adults in Northwestern Minnesota.
The overall goal of this project is to end homelessness among unaccompanied youth in the Northwest Continuum of Care region of Minnesota, as confirmed by the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness (USICH) under its criteria and benchmarks for ending youth homelessness.
Funding Information
- Up to $550,000 in funding will be available to partner agencies of the Northwest Continuum of Care and will be managed by the Northwest Minnesota Foundation.
- Funding will be made available to agencies in coordination with the community-planned projects that have been previously established, including the Youth Housing Demonstration Project (YHDP), which is available through the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
- This funding is a one-time, non-renewable opportunity, and selected grantees will be expected to complete project performance through June 2024.

Eligible Activities
- Selected grantees will be encouraged to collaborate with other community organizations in the region of Northwest Minnesota.
- Formal documentation of planned collaboration, such as a memorandum of understanding (MOU) or partnership agreement will not be required by the Northwest Minnesota Foundation.
- This is in an effort to include many diverse stakeholders in taking a systems-change approach to preventing and ending youth homelessness in Northwest Minnesota.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants may be a local nonprofit organization, local government, or tribal government, and demonstrate the ability to meet all contract requirements outlined within this Request for Proposals (RFP).
- Eligible applicants must be current members of the Northwest Continuum of Care.
- Applicants must also participate in Coordinated Entry to be eligible for funding.
Ineligible Activities: Activities requiring the acquisition of real property or constructing, renovating or improving any property asset.
