Applications for the NYANSAPO project are open to support the existing Ghanaian training and research programs, by co-constructing training programs adapted to local needs, i.e., targeting innovative sectors with high potential in terms of job creation in Ghana.
The main objective will be to support the existing Ghanaian training and research programs, by co-constructing training programs adapted to local needs, i.e., targeting innovative sectors with high potential in terms of job creation in Ghana.
Projects must be developed and carried out jointly by a Franco-Ghanaian consortium or duo. The constitution of networks composed of at least one Ghanaian and one French partner, and/or open to co-financing by private partners, will be encouraged. The majority of the funds will be allocated to the Ghanaian partner(s).
Objectives
- Main objective
- To support the cooperation initiatives of French and Ghanaian higher education and research institutions, around the central objective of the employability of young Ghanaian graduates, by accompanying the upgrading of the existing Ghanaian training and research offer.
- Sub-objectives
- Higher Education component: Develop cooperation in higher education in order to improve Ghana’s training programs and the employability of young people in innovative sectors.
- The project leaders may propose several actions falling within the scope of the three activities (initiation, structuring, and employability) detailed below. Some projects may therefore be exhaustive, while others will specifically target the initiation of a partnership, or a specific action to structure contacts already established.
Aims
In concrete terms, the projects submitted will aim to:
- Encourage joint experimentation, exchange of know-how and development of innovative training models for the mutual strengthening of French and Ghanaian partner institutions of higher education.
- Develop pedagogical training between Ghanaian and French academic partners.
- Develop doctoral training and research, a key element in the development of Ghana.

- Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM).
- Science and Technology Innovation (STI) including agribusiness, artificial intelligence, environment, waste treatment and circular economy, bio-fuels, green energy and energy storage systems, health and pharmaceuticals, information and communication technology, robotics, microprocessors and software engineering; financial technology (FinTech); precision and digital machining.

Funding Information
- The total budget allocated to the FSPI NYANSAPO project is 600,000 Euros. The maximum contribution per selected project will not exceed 40.000 Euros (Forty Thousand Euros).
- Total duration of 21 months.
Activities
- Initiation of joint projects
- Supporting Ghanaian and French universities in their desire to develop joint university training programs.
- Structuring of existing partnerships
- Strengthen existing cooperation efforts by encouraging the continuation of co-construction projects already initiated, in year 1 or before the project. The idea is to establish partnerships and sustainable links within Franco-Ghanaian consortia in the targeted sectors.
- Strengthening employability
- Work on the establishment of quality vocational trainings to smoothen the learning path of students and increase their level of qualification as well as their employability. The various activities will target vocational training offered mainly by professional institutions and technical universities in Ghana, in the priority sectors of the project (STEM, STI, fashion/design, tourism/hospitality, sustainable development and agriculture, sports, cultural and creative industries (CCI), etc.).
Eligibility Criteria
- The projects submitted:
- May be presented by any public or private higher education and research institution.
- Must be developed and carried out jointly by a pair (French institution + Ghanaian institution) or by a dedicated French-Ghanaian consortium. Two project leaders will be designated (one French, one Ghanaian) and a Ghanaian institution will be the recipient of the funds.
- Meet the objectives of FSPI NYANSAPO.
- Propose activities that fall within the eligible expenses.
- Not request more than €40,000 for implementation.
- May be deployed until February 2024, 21 months after the official start of the FSPI NYANSAPO project.
- Will be submitted according to the presentation template proposed in the annex.
- Propose a budget that is calibrated to the purpose and methodology of the project and based on costs in Ghana or France, depending on the country where the activities will be carried out,
- Describe in detail the expected results and deliverables.
- Applications for the NYANSAPO project are open to all public and private higher education and research institutions in Ghana and France.
