The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) is inviting proposals for Friends and Friends of the Climate to present community proposals that contribute to the water security of the Central Region, through actions that improve the availability and quality of water, contribute to reducing vulnerability against risks related to water and climate change and generate collateral benefits additional social, economic and environmental.
This call is an opportunity to promote initiatives, solutions and new practices communities that contribute to responding to problems in the management of water as a common good and human rights, and that help to articulate multiple processes and actors, generating impacts and collective benefits for water security in the central region from the adaptation approach to climate change and the management of climate-related risks.
Objectives
- Contribute to the implementation of the Water Security Plan (PSH) of the Central Region to reduce the vulnerability of ecosystems and families to the effects of climate change, strengthening community capacities for water management, transforming forms of appropriating and using water and fostering the participation and leadership of community organizations on this issue.
- This call will finance community initiatives that implement adaptation actions to the climate through the design of solutions based on nature and green infrastructure, as well as the management of community climate information to better cope with events caused by climate change, which seek to improve the well-being of the population and the ecosystems.
Funding Information
- Only one proposal per organization will be funded for an amount of thirty million pesos ($ 30,000,000). For a maximum time of 6 months of execution.
Eligibility Criteria
- Formally constituted community-based social organizations are eligible without the intention of profit, made up of residents of the municipalities, which participate directly in the proposed activities. These organizations must have some experience and interest in environmental initiatives, preferably related to water and climate change in the areas that are the object of this call.
- It is desirable that organizations have high participation and leadership of women and youth. May be foundations, corporations, community organizations with an ethnic focus, farmers, productive or other forms of organization typical of the territory, such as community action boards, aqueduct boards or indigenous organizations.
- Public entities are not eligible
What Proposals can be submitted?
Proposals must respond to one or more of the following lines of work, always from the vision and community interest:
- Climate adaptation actions through the implementation of Solutions Based on Nature and green infrastructure for community water management (Examples: strengthening of local aqueducts, river restoration, recovery of plains alluvial, cisterns improvement, rainwater harvesting system, green roofs, reforestation of water rounds, among others)
- Climate adaptation actions for productive and agri-food systems through Nature-Based Solutions (Examples: systems for saving and efficient use of water, reuse, incorporation of good agricultural management practices with an impact on water, soil management practices on farmland, among others)
- Community management of climate information for resilience and adaptation (Examples: community water monitoring through information technologies, footprint measurement water to propose actions for adaptation and efficient use, initiation or promotion of community early warnings)
