The Fish and Wildlife Service is now accepting proposals to assist partners in implementing effective science-based bird habitat conservation projects in the Upper Mississippi / Great Lakes Joint Venture (UMGLJV) region (Michigan and Wisconsin, plus portions of Indiana, Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, Minnesota, Nebraska and Ohio).
The goal of the Joint Venture (JV) is to assist partners in implementing effective science-based bird habitat conservation projects in the Upper Mississippi / Great Lakes Joint Venture (UMGLJV) region (Michigan and Wisconsin, plus portions of Indiana, Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, Minnesota, Nebraska and Ohio). to focus on monitoring and applied research that improves understanding of factors limiting focal species population abundances, such as land-use and environmental variation related to climate change.

Eligibility Criteria
- Federal, State, and local government agencies
- Native American tribal governments (Federally recognized)
- Native American tribal organizations (other than Federally recognized tribal governments)
- Public and State controlled institutions of higher education
- Nonprofits having a 501 (c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
- Nonprofits that do not have a 501 (c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
- Private institutions of higher education
- Interstate and intrastate entities
