The Auckland Council is seeking applications for its Ōrākei Quick Response and Tree Protection Grant Programme.

Funding priorities
They welcome grant applications that align to the following priorities:
- Neighbourhoods, community centres and public places are safe and attractive.
- Public art and local heritage is supported by the community.
- Their people benefit from a number of community events.
- Their natural environment is valued, protected and enhanced by their communities.
- Their natural areas are restored and enhanced for present and future generations.
- More of their community participates in environmental enhancement projects.
- The health of their waterways is improved.
- They have a thriving economy that supports local businesses and town centres.
- Local and overseas visitors are attracted to their area.
- They meet the varied recreational needs of their diverse community.
- Activities are led by the community, and they encourage people from all walks of life to actively participate in their community.
Types of grants
The Community Grants Policy has three main grant types:
- local grant programmes – each local board has now adopted a grants programme
- regional grant programmes
- multi-board grants: applicants can apply to three or more local boards for the same project. Applicants will need to apply to the local board with the earliest closing date.

Amount: $500 – $3000
Outcomes
Their grants programme will aim to provide contestable grants to local communities such as:
- residents associations
- business associations
- friends of groups
- all other community groups and individuals doing projects for the community.
Eligibility Criteria
- community organisations with a formal legal structure
- groups or individuals with no formal legal structure can apply for up to $1,000 (Kaipatiki Local Board will not fund individuals)
- applicants seeking funding over $1,000 will need to nominate an umbrella organisation or
- receive funding retrospectively.
Ineligible
They will not fund:
- applications for liquor licenses
- private entertainment
- purchase of vehicles (they may also decline other significant asset purchases)
- past grant recipients who have not provided accountability reports
- catering
- travel expenses
- the same project or activity more than once in a financial year.
