What can your organization apply for?
- Project Funding
- Projects are programs of work which are limited in scope and seek to achieve particular outcomes
- Applicants may include running costs related to project delivery
- The project should align with at least one of the trust’s themes
- Projects should be at least 2 weeks and no greater than 12 months in duration
- Core Funding
- Core funding is for essential running costs including support costs, income generation, and governance activities
- Only for organizations funded in the last 3 years by People’s Postcode Trust, Postcode Community Trust or Postcode Local Trust who have returned their evaluation form
- The organization’s aims/objects should align with at least one of the trust’s themes
- 12 months to spend the funds
The Trust does not fund
- Building renovations or refurbishment
- Activities taking place outside of GB or foreign travel
- Sponsorship
- Medical research, clinical treatment, and equipment (e.g. defibrillators)
- Projects that promote religion
- Bodies seeking to distribute grants/funds to individuals or other organizations
- Individuals
- Local, regional or government institutions and organisations with core statutory responsibilities (e.g. NHS foundation trusts, parish councils, town councils, and public bodies)
- Organizations currently in receipt of funding from players of the People’s Postcode Lottery, including previous grant recipients who have not submitted a project evaluation form
- Organizations that appear to have excessive unrestricted or free reserves and no policy to reflect the rationale behind this
- Organizations that have previously breached their funding agreement with People’s Postcode Trust
- Organizations with core support from players of People’s Postcode Lottery through other Trusts e.g. Wildlife Trusts, RDA, Girlguiding, Carers Trust, National Trust.
- Political parties or party-political activities
- Schools (except for special schools), parent-teacher associations, nurseries, preschools, playgroups, and universities/colleges
- Organizations outside of GB.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applications are particularly welcomed from smaller charities and community groups, with preference given to charities with a turnover of under £1m.
- In addition, depending on the volume of high impact applications received, they may further prioritize smaller organizations, giving particular preference to those with a turnover of less than £500k.
- They only fund constituted organizations that have a bank account in the name of the organization with at least two unrelated signatories.
- Organizations that are not currently in receipt of funds from any trust supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery. Different types of organizations can apply for different levels of funding:
- Funding between £500 – £2,000
- Not-for-profit organizations such as:
- Companies limited by guarantee with an asset lock
- Constituted voluntary organizations with no charity number
- Community Interest Companies with an asset lock
- Community benefit societies
- Constituted sports groups
- Organizations with tax-exempt status but no registered charity number
- Not-for-profit organizations such as:
- Funding between £500 – £20,000
- Charities registered with the Charity Commission or OSCR
- Funding between £500 – £2,000
- Requirements for all applications
- They will ask for your organization’s governing document and most recent financial year’s accounts as proof of eligibility.
- Your Governing Documents should:
- Match the name of the organization on the application
- Include your organization’s objects, which should be charitable in nature
- Include an asset lock, dissolution or winding up clause
- Your account should:
- Be in the name of your organization as given on your application
- Not be a bank statement, we require your annual accounts
- Abide by the Statement of Recommended Practice if applicable
- Include the independent examiner/auditor’s report and signature if applicable
- Be a financial forecast/ top-line income v expenditure report if your organization is less than a year old.
