Deadline: 31-Aug-22
The PFund Foundation is proud to announce a new initiative and grants to develop a coalition of LGBTQ+ leaders from across rural Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota, Wisconsin, and the Native Nations therein.
Known as PRISM (Promoting Rural Interconnections for Sexual Minorities), the program will create networks for LGBTQ+ organizations and groups to share resources, learn as a community, and respond to the unique set of issues and challenges facing queer people in small towns and rural areas in the upper Midwest.
Benefits
If selected, your organization will be given access to two PRISM resources:
-
General operating grants to increase capacity and support professional training.
- The grant period will be for 12 months, beginning in November 2022. Organizations have the option to renew the grants for up to three years of total funding.
- 90% of the funds will be unrestricted (though applicants will have to outline in general how they intend to use funds when applying each year) and 10% will be allocated to support the professional development needs of the staff of members of organizations that have received grants.
- The size of the grants will range between $5,000 and $12,500 dollars, and each state will have between two and five organizations receiving grants.
-
Monthly virtual meetings to form a coalition known as the PRISM Alliance.
- Any organization that receives a grant must have a lead representative (i.e. executive director, board chair, or other key staffer) participate in monthly virtual roundtables and education sessions via Zoom.
- This core group of organizations will help PFund expand its reach in rural areas across the five-state area and together PFund and the PRISM Alliance will begin identifying what practices and resources are needed to better serve queer individuals in rural areas in the upper Midwest.
- Each organization must attend at least 10 of the 12 monthly meetings over the course of the grant period. Failure to do so will impact the likelihood of renewed grant funding.
