The U.S. Embassy of Yerevan, of the U.S. Department of State, announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to carry out a program aimed at promoting media literacy and critical thinking in Armenia.
The goal of this program is to promote the level of media/information literacy and critical thinking in Armenia to increase resilience against disinformation and malign influences. Program proposals should include a narrative analyzing and identifying the audiences that are most vulnerable in terms of media literacy and explain the program method for an effective intervention.
The program should aim to promote the beneficiaries’ ability to discern between disinformation and factual content and to build awareness and capacities to address the current and newly rising disinformation challenges on social media.
Funding Information
- Award amount: $100,000 (during FY21) and $150,000 (during FY22, subject to availability of funds)
- Number of awards anticipated: 1 award
- Anticipated program start date: October 1, 2021
- Program Performance Period: The activities of the initial award should be completed in up to 24 months.
Priority Region: Armenia. Applicants are strongly encouraged to focus the program activities on regional communities outside of Yerevan.

- Not-for-profit organizations, including think tanks and civil society/non-governmental organizations
- Public and private educational institutions
- For-profit media-sector organizations
