The UNOPS Peace and Security Cluster invites interested and eligible applicants to apply for a Call for Proposals (CFP) for the grant project: Provision of Explosive Ordnance Risk Education to Returnees in Afghanistan.
Purpose
- This grant will support provision of Explosive Ordnance (EO) Risk Education (RE) in transit/encashment centres for returnees in Afghanistan and alternative communities for IDPs.
- The United Nations Mine Action Service programme in Afghanistan (“UNMAS Afghanistan”) supports the Mine Action Programme of Afghanistan (“MAPA”) and the Directorate of Mine Action Coordination (“DMAC”) to protect the civilian population from the threat of explosive ordnance and contributes to peacemaking and the protection of civilians in hard -to-reach areas through political and humanitarian dialogue.
Impact
- The vision of UNMAS Afghanistan is that Afghan communities benefit from humanitarian and development initiatives unimpeded by explosive ordnance.
Funding Information
- The maximum budget available for the project is $165,000.
- The proposed start date for the grants will be 01 July 2021, and it must be concluded by 31 January 2022.
Outcome(s)
UNMAS Afghanistan seeks progress towards the following programme -level outcomes in Afghanistan, m easured by the corresponding indicators.
- Outcome 1: Armed non -state actors (“ ANSA”) do not impede delivery of humanitarian mine action.
- Outcome 2: People at risk across Afghanistan recognize how to mitigate the risk of explosive ordnance.
Target Beneficiaries
- The project targeted beneficiaries (men, women, boys, girls) are cross -border documented and undocumented returnees mainly from Iran and Pakistan; Internally Displaced Persons (“IDPs”); and other populations affected by explosive ordnance.
