The Victorian Fisheries Authority (VFA) has announced Recreational Fishing and Camping Facilities Grant Program to support local government with grant funding to deliver new or renewed infrastructure directly related to recreational fishing, boating and camping.
Including but not limited to projects that improve access to recreational fishing, boating or camping areas and, improve infrastructure and facilities at recreational fishing, boating and camping areas or marine rescue.
What is likely to be Funded?
- Boat ramps;
- Camping facilities or improved access to new or existing camping locations;
- Fishing Pontoons;
- Toilet blocks in popular fishing, camping or boating locations;
- Marine rescue facilities, in popular fishing, camping or boating locations; or
- Other infrastructure or facilities directly associated with recreational fishing, boating or camping
Project Criteria
- All projects must deliver a clear benefit to recreational fishing, boating or camping.
- Projects which lead to increased participation or access will be given priority for grant funding.
- Preference will be given to proposals which provide co-funding or in-kind financial contributions towards the overall cost of the project
Eligibility Criteria
- Grants are available only to local councils.
Requirements
Requirements of all grant recipients:
- To demonstrate a rigorous procurement process has been undertaken in line with organisational policy, prior to the approval of works. In the absence of a procurement policy, the recipient must adhere to the Council procurement policies, in the absence of any policy the VFA policy applies.
- Obtain all relevant planning, environmental and development permits and approvals applying to the project;
- Demonstrate the new facilities or improvements to existing facilities shall comply with the appropriate Australian Standards, including maritime structures (AS 4997), marinas (AS 3962) and universal access design (AS 1428).
- Provide evidence of sufficient public liability insurance as required, covering the project’s activities and outcomes. The applicant, as owner of the project, is responsible for insurance, both during and after construction.
- Demonstrate an ability to be able to operate and maintain the facility and to make a commitment to a future high standard of operation and maintenance;
- Be prepared to participate in on-site inspections of the project before, during and after the construction of a facility.
- Submit project updates and progress reports at three month intervals, or as requested; and
- Enter into a formal funding agreement with the VFA.
