The ACT Government Community Services had announced a call for applications for the Respite Effect and Recovery Grant Program to people with disability and their family carers aimed at supporting the wellbeing and resilience of people with disability, their families and carers in the ACT.
- When applying, you will be asked about:
- your greatest challenges during COVID-19; and
- how and why the activity would make a difference to you.
- People who apply are encouraged to choose an item from a menu of supports in the application form, or to suggest another activity that will provide relief and assistance. Funding can be applied for items and activities, but are not limited to:
- IT and Media
- extra data to help with using more digital services while having to stay at home
- a contribution towards buying a personal device like a tablet
- a subscription to online or hard copy media such as a magazine or a newspaper
- applications or electronic equipment to support IT or media usage
- Self-Care
- a meal that you don’t have to cook (delivery, take away)
- paying for a spring clean, or for help in the garden
- activities and equipment that support your wellbeing
- Financial
- paying bills that may have increased due to having to spend more time at home
- changing support arrangements for a time, engaging a temporary support worker
- assistance with the costs of starting a new hobby, or for a recreational short course to support and improve your wellbeing, or other supports that will provide a respite effect and will assist with maintaining your wellbeing or recovery through a challenging time.
- IT and Media
- To apply for these Grants you must live in the ACT, be aged 18 years or over, and be a person with disability or an unpaid family member or primary carer for a person with disability who lives in the same household. You can also make an application if you are a guardian, parent, primary carer or an unpaid family member carer for an individual with disability who will benefit from the Grant.
- You must be over the age of 18 years to make the application. If you are a person with disability under the age of 18 and you do not want your carer, parent or guardian to apply for a Grant on your behalf.
- The Grant is ONLY for one application per household / family / carer and person with disability pair. If you believe your situation is a special or exceptional one.
- If you are one of the 368 people who have already received funds from a previous round of the Grants, you are not eligible to apply in this round.
