UNESCO is requesting proposals to support building the capacity of religious leaders on delivery of scientifically accurate, age, culturally and theologically appropriate sexual and reproductive health education including on HIV and GBV in Tanzania.
Specifically, the activity will focus on providing religious leaders with scientifically & theologically relevant materials and knowledge for creating dialogues with people of different age groups through dissemination of the toolkit and organization of capacity building sessions.
Objectives
- The main objective of this project is to enhance capacity of Religious Leaders for better engagement and delivery of scientifically accuracy, age, culturally and theologically appropriate sexual and reproductive health education includes on HIV and GBV in Tanzania.
- Specifically, the project will focus on providing religious leaders with scientifically & theologically relevant materials and knowledge for creating dialogues with people of different age groups through dissemination of the toolkit and organization of capacity building sessions.
Scope of Work and Main Tasks
- This is a five-month project (August – December 2020) targeting selected religious leaders, teachers and facilitators. The partner will have to ensure designing and deploying approaches that will help to achieve the stated specific objective “providing religious leaders with scientifically & theologically relevant materials and knowledge for creating dialogues with people of different age groups through dissemination of toolkit and organization of capacity building sessions”.
- Specifically, the partner will carry out a of number of activities including but not limited to:
- Organization of religious leaders technical sessions to review and domesticate the “Religious Leaders’ Toolkit on Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights”.
- Dissemination of materials to relevant stakeholders (religions, faith based organizations, associations and networks).
- Using of the toolkit, organize training sessions to equip selected religious leaders and teachers/facilitators with relevant skills and knowledge.
- Support institutionalization of the toolkit within relevant structure or organizations, and promote the uses of the toolkit amongst key stakeholders.
- Prepare all relevant project reports (narrative and financial) and submit to UNESCO
- Based on the approved proposal and budget, the implementing partner will be fully responsible of the management of the project i.e. planning, implementing and monitoring including effective use of funds. These will include but not limited to development of relevant plans, undertake pre and post training knowledge assessment, conducting relevant inception and planning meetings.
- The implementing partner will have to ensure effective engagement of relevant stakeholders and securing support from religious leaders, government authorities and community. This will include but not limited to – informing key stakeholders, selection of beneficiaries of various activities.
- The implementing partner will have to adhere to both UNESCO contractual rules and regulations as stipulated in to UNESCO contract document and government laws and regulations.
Expected Deliverables
Over the period of this project, the implementing partner will have to deliver/submit to UNESCO the following:
- Technical proposal (narrative and budget).
- Progress report (narrative and financial), including as annex, final copy of validated toolkit and report of any events or activities conducted during the reporting period.
- Final project report (narrative and financial), including as annex, report of pre & post training knowledge evaluation, training/meetings reports and human interest stories.
Funding Information
Budget should not exceed TZS 50,000,000.00 excluding printing cost.
Eligibility Criteria
- Faith Based Organizations, Interfaith Organizations, Association, Secretariat or Initiatives.
- Track records and experience (at least 3 years) in project implementation, management and grant administration in the area of SRHR.
- Previous experience of working with UN, Government and other Development Partners at outreach/community.
- The partner should have good track and sound record in managing project funds.
- Currently working at upstream level is an added advantage.

- Summary of outcomes, outputs and activities – maximum two pages
- Implementation Strategy and Approach – maximum two pages
- Stakeholders, beneficiaries and partners – maximum one page
- Risk analysis and management plan – maximum one page
- Timeline and Costs – maximum two pages.
