UNESCO Tanzania is inviting Non-Governmental Organization to submit a technical and financial proposal to pilot the Parent – Child Communication Manual on Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRHR).
Objectives
- The main objective of this project is to provide support for parents/guardians and other caregivers through acquisition of knowledge and development of attitudes that could help them to increase home-based conversations and communication about sexual and reproductive health and rights with their children.
- Specifically, the project will focus on piloting of the PCC Manual in selected communities in Zanzibar to determine its relevance and appropriateness in terms of content, and efficacy in supporting parents and caregivers develop desired knowledge, attitudes and practices.
Scope of Work and Main Tasks
- This is a six-month pilot project targeting selected families/communities in one district of Zanzibar (preferable West ‘A’, West ‘B’ or Mkoani Pemba). The partner will have to ensure designing and deploying approaches that will help to achieve the stated specific objective “determine the relevancy and appropriateness of PCC Manual in terms of content, and efficacy in supporting parents and caregivers develop desired knowledge, attitudes and practices”.
- Based on the approved proposal and budget, implementing partner will be fully responsible on designing, planning, implementing and monitoring (includes effective use fund) of the project. These will includes but not limited to development of relevant plans, undertake pre and post intervention assessment, conducting meetings and trainings, documenting lessons to inform the pilots and preparation of all relevant reports (narrative and financial) and tools deemed necessary for project monitoring.
- Implementing partner will have to ensure effective engagement of relevant government authorities in the overall process of planning and implementation of the project. This will includes but not limited to – informing government authorities and securing relevant permission, selection of benefiting communities and families. Ensure regular communication with relevant government authority and UNESCO Office in issues related to the project.
- Implementing partner will have to adhere to both UNESCO contractual rule and regulation as stipulated in to UNESCO contract document, and government laws and regulations.
Expected Deliverables
Over the period of this project partner will have to deliver/submit to UNESCO the following:
- Technical proposal (narrative and budget).
- Progress report (narrative and financial), including as annex, pre intervention assessment report.
- Final project report (narrative and financial), including as annex post intervention assessment report, training/meetings report, documentation of lessons learned includes human interest stories.
Note: Post intervention assessment report should capture all necessary observations and practical recommendations in terms of usefulness of the manual in terms of contents and efficacy of the project.

Provisional Amount: USD 20,000/-
Eligibility Criteria
- NGO, CSO or CBO register and based or have office in Zanzibar.
- Track records and experience (at least 5 years) in project implementation, management and grant administration in the area of SRHR.
- Previous experience of working with UN, Government and other Development Partners at outreach/community.
- The partner should have good track and sound record in managing project funds.
- Currently working at outreach level is an added advantage.
Requirements
Proposals should be submitted in English and shall cover the following:
- Background (organization profile and capacity) – maximum two page
- Rationale and overall purpose – maximum five pages
- Summary of outcomes, outputs and activities – maximum two pages
- Implementation Strategy and Approach – maximum two pages
- Stakeholders, beneficiaries and partners – maximum one page
- Risk analysis and management plan – maximum one page
- Timeline and Costs – maximum two pages.
