The Rhodes Scholars Southern Africa Forum (RSSAF) is inviting applicants from Sub-Saharan Africa for its Grant program with an aim to promote and support programs of economic, political and social development in sub-Saharan Africa.
RSSAF aims to channel the resources raised from scholar stipend deductions and other fundraising activities, to support projects primarily for poor and vulnerable groups in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Mission
- To increase awareness of social, political and economic issues in Southern Africa.
- To raise and distribute funds to support small-scale community development.
- To stimulate discussion about the historical relationship between the scholarship and the region.
Grant Information
RSSAF gives small grants of up to £1,500 to programmes of economic, political and social development in sub-Saharan Africa.
Eligibility Criteria
- Organisations eligible for RSSAF grants must:
- Be operating in Sub-Saharan Africa
- Projects in countries affected by the legacy of Cecil Rhodes are especially encouraged to apply
- Target poor and vulnerable groups with programmes of social, political, and economic development
- Have some sort of formal organisational structure
- Demonstrate some level of community buy-in
- Priority is given to projects less likely to secure funding from large donors and to projects with which Rhodes Scholars or other Oxford students/staff are associated.
