CARE Balkans (CARE), in cooperation with partner organizations in the region: ENECA (Republic of Serbia), LINK (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Strategic Development Consulting (North Macedonia) and Tehnopolis (Montenegro) are implementing the project Economic Inclusion and Justice for Women in the Western Balkans (EWI).
The EWI project is funded by the Austrian Development Agency (ADA). This three-year project, which is in its initial phase, aims to empower and realize the economic rights of women in the Western Balkans.
The project works to achieve the following results:
- Women entrepreneurs in selected target districts develop and improve sustainable businesses through financial and technical support.
- Increased employability of women in target districts through skills development and certified vocational training.
- Improved environment for women’s economic inclusion at the community and societal levels.
- Strengthened capacities of institutional actors to integrate gender-sensitive approaches in programs employment and entrepreneurship.
Funding Information
- Three selected organizations will be eligible for capacity building through financial support of EUR 10,000.00 per organization.

- Four-day training on key topics such as community outreach, advocacy, public speaking, soft skills, leadership, and organizational administrative and financial management.
- Two-day online fundraising training, including training in writing project proposals and the use of crowdfunding platforms.
- Online consultations with CARE experts for the development of project ideas and funding strategies.
- Increased visibility and networking
- Greater recognition through project communication activities at local and regional level
- Connecting with local government, decision-makers and other CSOs through joint activities and advocacy initiatives.
- Exchange of experiences with other organizations in the region (BiH, Republic of Serbia, North Macedonia, Montenegro).
- Practical application of acquired knowledge
- Support for long-term sustainability
Eligibility Criteria
- CSOs that meet the following criteria can apply to the Public Call:
- Organizations led by women and/or programmatically focused on women’s empowerment, active in the Nišava, Pirot, Rasina, Toplica, Jablanica and Pÿinja districts
- Registered for a minimum of 3 years as a citizens’ association, with active status, based on democratic principles and transparent operations
- 100% domestically owned
- Achieve positive business results (for the period 2022-2024)
- Relevant experience in women’s economic empowerment and other women’s support activities
- Foster a gender-sensitive and community-based approach
- They have experience in organizing and leading workshops with women in the local community
