The City of Cockburn is inviting applications for Small Events Sponsorship 2021-2022 to encourage small-scale neighbourhood events across Cockburn, such as movie nights, pop-up events and cafés, Christmas carols, food swaps, suburb open days and small fetes.
- Events or activities that will be of benefit to the local community and/or City of Cockburn generally.
- Events that meet an identified need in line with one of the themes of the City’s Strategic Community Plan.
- Applications that do not require a commitment to ongoing funding from Council.
- Applications from schools, P&C’s and P&F’s for events that will be:
- accessible to the wider Cockburn community outside of school hours; and
- able to provide at least 50% or more of the financial contribution to the event.
- Applications from organisations that can demonstrate a financial or in kind contribution to the event will be considered favourably, as will those who source funding from other sources.
- Events that do not duplicate an activity already available in the local area.
- Organisations based within the City of Cockburn or whom primarily service residents and/or the interests of the City are eligible to apply for funds.
- Applications from not-for-profit organisations including sporting, welfare, educational, arts/cultural, youth, seniors, children, ethnic and related groups are eligible to apply.
- Applicants must:
- primarily serve residents of the City;
- be an established and incorporated not-for-profit organisation (or auspiced by an incorporated not-for-profit organisation) and demonstrate a high level of community support; and
- demonstrate they are financially sound or key personnel have demonstrated ability to manage the proposal for which funds are being sought.
- Include a financial and/or in-kind contribution to the project;
- Identify how their project meets an identified need in line with one of the themes of the City’s Strategic Community Plan.
- There is a limit of one successful application in this category per financial year per organisation.
- A project or event is only entitled to receive funding from one funding program i.e. you cannot make multiple applications across different categories or financial years for the same project or event.
- An applicant may successfully apply for and receive funding from two different categories (i.e. Small Events Sponsorship, Community Grants, Cultural Grants, Donations, Sponsorship, Sustainability Grants) per financial year, provided they meet the criteria for the particular category, however, the applications cannot be for the same project.
- Applicants that have been successful in previous years are eligible to apply provided all previous funding has been satisfactorily acquitted.
- Funding will not be provided retrospectively for events that have already occurred, or due to occur within two months’ of the application’s lodgement.
