Deadline: 26-Nov-21
The Somerset Community Foundation is pleased to launch the Somerset West and Taunton Small Grants Fund to support a wide range of community activities or projects as well as contributing to the core costs of local groups.
The fund must improve the health and wellbeing of people living in the Somerset West and Taunton area. Your application must be clear about the difference you will make for people who live in this area.
The Foundation is more likely to give you money if your group:
- is based in a more disadvantaged community. Their team check the Index of Multiple Deprivation to see if you are in a richer or poorer part of the district. The Government publishes this Index.
- works with people facing bigger challenges than others. This might include people who have disabilities or those who find themselves marginalized.
- actively works with other groups in your area to make sure everyone can benefit from what you provide
- has not received money from this fund in the last year.
Funding Information
Grants of up to £ 1,000 for groups in Somerset West and Taunton.
Eligibility Criteria
-
You can only apply if your group:
- is based in Somerset West and Taunton or provides support to residents of the district.
- exists to support your community and doesn't make a profit for any directors, members, or shareholders.
- That means charities, community groups, sports clubs, and social enterprises can usually apply.
-
But your group must have a:
- governing document or set of rules
- committee of at least three unrelated people
- bank account in its name that requires two unrelated people to make payments
- safeguarding policy.
-
The Foundation can give money to these types of groups, but only in some cases:
- Social enterprises, like a Community Interest Company. Social enterprises must be limited by guarantee, and have objects and an asset lock that benefit Somerset communities.
- Statutory organisations, like a parish council or a school. Applications cannot be for statutory duties. This means they will not support educational activities for pupils that take place during the school day. They will also not give money for school facilities, classroom equipment or to train teachers. They would prefer Parent Teacher Associations (PTA) to ask them for money, rather than schools.
- Arts and culture organisations. They can only support arts and culture projects if they clearly help to improve the health and wellbeing of local people. This may include therapeutic activities.
