Deadline: 7-Sep-24
The U.S. Embassy Tunis is pleased to announce a special call for local institutions in Tunisia to submit project ideas to bring a qualified U.S. scholar or professional to their institution for a collaboration on a defined, two- to six-week project throughout 2025.
For a limited time, the Fulbright Specialist Program will offer additional funding to cover those in-country expenses traditionally cost-shared by host institutions (i.e. meals, lodging, and in-country transportation). This initiative aims to support increased cooperation between U.S. scholars/professionals and institutions in priority fields and benefit institutions that are not able to fulfill the program’s traditional cost-sharing requirements.
Fields
- To be eligible for additional funding of the Specialist’s in-country expenses, institutions must propose projects in one of the following priority areas: Climate Change; Cyber Security and IT; Disaster Response; DEIA (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Access); Entrepreneurship; Media Literacy/Countering Disinformation; Public Administration; Public/Global Health (including Mental Health); and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).
Duration
- Proposed projects must range from 14-42 days in length, including weekends, holidays, and travel days, and occur between January 1, 2025, and September 30, 2025.
Activities
- Proposed projects should focus on concrete education, training, or other knowledge-sharing activities. Specific project activities can include, but are not limited to delivering seminars or training, consulting on faculty or workforce development, developing academic or training curricula/materials, providing lectures at the graduate or undergraduate level, engaging in strategic or institutional planning, or conducting needs assessments or evaluations.
Ineligible Activities
- Please note that Fulbright Specialists may not engage in independent research projects, clinical medical research, or activities involving patient contact. Proposals requiring inter-country travel will not be accepted; all project activities must take place within Tunisia.
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible institutions in Tunisia include accredited institutions of higher education, cultural institutions, government agencies, non-profit organizations, and medical institutions.
Ineligible
- For-profit companies and organizations, such as businesses and corporations, as well as any U.S.-headquartered or U.S.-based institutions of any kind are ineligible to host Fulbright Specialists.
