The State Government of Victoria is inviting applications for Sporting Club Grants Program to provide funding for grassroots sport and active recreation clubs and organisations across Victoria.
Access to this funding helps clubs and organisations address barriers in participation, develop safe and sustainable practices, and build social and active local communities.
This program assists clubs and organisations to purchase sports uniforms and equipment, increase the skills of coaches, officials, volunteers and managers, and supports improvements to club capacity and accessibility.
Funding Categories
Category 1: Uniforms or Equipment: Grants of up to $1,000
Category 2: Skill Development: Grants of up to $2,000 for clubs or organisations, or up to $5,000 for leagues, associations or organisations that collaborate with multiple organisations.
Category 3: Operational Capacity: Grants up to $5,000 for clubs or organisations.
What can the Funding be used For?
- Category 1: Uniforms or Equipment
- Eligible items include, but are not limited to:
- Jumpers and other playing strips (guernseys, singlets etc)
- Tracksuits
- Socks
- Boots (football boots, cleats etc)
- Bats (cricket, baseball etc)
- Match balls
- First aid equipment
- Protective equipment such as gloves, helmets and batting pads.
- Eligible items include, but are not limited to:
- Category 2: Skill Development
- Eligible initiatives include, but are not limited to:
- Participation in courses for coaches, referees, umpires and officials. This includes sports first aid and sports training level 1 or 2
- Workshops for administrators and committee members in financial management, governance and committee management, volunteer management, club administration, information technology or Member Protection Information Officer training.
- Eligible initiatives include, but are not limited to:
- Category 3: Organisation Operational Capacity
- Eligible initiatives include, but are not limited to:
- Preparation of a business plan / strategic plan / succession plan
- Development of policy and procedure manuals
- Development of a club or organisation website
- Development of (including associated start-up costs ) sport and active recreation programs, such as an alternative, modified or pilot programs, that aim to increase the equity, diversity and inclusiveness of sport and recreation for low participation groups or increase the membership base for clubs. This can include promotional material, equipment, uniforms, and training.

Eligibility Criteria
- Applications are accepted from Victorian community-based organisations involved in the delivery of sports and active recreation opportunities in Victoria. In addition, the applicant, club or organisation must meet all eight criteria.
- Before considering you project, please ensure that you are eligible to apply.
- They receive many applications from clubs or organisations that received a Sporting Club Grant in the previous round or financial year.
- Clubs or organisations that received a Sporting Club Grant in 2020 – 2021, in Category 1, 2 or 3 are ineligible to apply. They encourage new administrators, management or club volunteer.
- If your club or organisation received a grant exclusively (or in both) Category 4: Coronavirus (COVID-19) Recovery, or Category 5: Event Costs Support, you are still eligible to apply this round.
