Deadline: 30-Apr-25
Applications are now open for the SQE Access and Reinvestment Fund to support schemes that help aspiring solicitors who face significant personal barriers to qualify.
The aims are to use the fund to address barriers to qualifying as a solicitor faced by those candidates from disadvantaged backgrounds. This is to address some of the factors which might contribute to differential outcomes and promote diversity within the profession.
Funding Information
- The fund currently holds around c.£360,000.
Who can apply?
- Established organisations with a track record of running schemes helping aspiring solicitors are invited to apply. Applicants must support candidates who have the commitment and ability to qualify, are funding themselves, and whose means to do so are limited by significant personal barriers.
- Organisations will need to demonstrate that aspiring solicitors are self-funding and have no/limited access to other means of paying for the SQE assessments (such as familial loans or financial gifts, access to savings, access to loans).
- Significant personal barriers could include, but are not limited to, having faced exceptional circumstances in pursuing their studies and aim to qualify as a solicitor. This could be due to:
- a disability
- time spent in local authority care
- family estrangement.
