The Euro-Mediterranean Foundation of Support to Human Rights Defenders (EMHRF) has announced the Standard Grants to support defenders and NGOs that are at risk or facing difficulties, and NGOs that carry out innovative, sensitive initiatives, aim to develop women and youth’s leadership, and operate in remote regions.
The Foundation aims at providing flexible financial assistance to regional, national and local human rights NGOs and institutes as well as individuals who promote, support, protect and monitor the observance of human rights in the South-Mediterranean region.
Funding Information
- The amount of funding requested may not exceed EUR 40,000. It usually falls between EUR 5,000 and EUR 30,000.
- The maximum duration of support is 12-18 months.
Eligibility Criteria
- The Foundation is a unique regional contribution to promote respect for human rights within the South-Mediterranean region (including Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Israel and the occupied Palestinian territory, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria).
- More specifically, it allocates financial support and provides tailored coaching to protect the safety of individual defenders and NGOs, to allow them to start innovative and sensitive initiatives and to adapt and sustain their human rights work in situations of conflict or hostile environments, and in transitions towards democracy.
