The African Women’s Development Fund (AWDF) is accepting submissions for the Matla Grants Program to support delivery of essential services to women, girls and gender diverse persons experiencing violence, backlash and/or discrimination in French speaking Africa.
“Matla” is a Seotho word that means “strength” or “power,” symbolising empowerment and resilience.
Funding Information
- Applicants can apply for between USD 15,000 – USD 20,000 for a year for a maximum of two years (USD 30,000 – USD 40,000 for two years).
Eligibility Criteria
- Organisations and groups led by African women, girls and gender diverse persons that provide essential services such as shelter, psychosocial and legal services to women, girls, and gender-diverse individuals facing violence, backlash, and various forms of abuse and discrimination.
- Emerging and small registered and unregistered groups can apply.
- This grant is open to applicants from all French speaking countries in Africa.
