The East Gippsland Community Foundation (EGCF) is inviting applications for the Bushfire Recovery Community Grants to help East Gippsland recover from the Black Summer fires.
Thematical Areas
Priority will be given to grassroot, community led initiatives that directly and clearly benefit local communities within any of the themes:
- Bushfire recovery
- Community led capacity building
- Disaster planning and preparedness
- Positive youth outcomes (specific to youth grant)
Types
- East Gippsland Bushfire Recovery Community Grants – No. 1
- Priority – Promoting to Not-For-Profit, incorporated associations and community groups within fire impacted areas.
- Funded activities may be gatherings, activities, get togethers, projects to address community needs, all with a youth focus.
- East Gippsland Bushfire Recovery Community Grants – No. 2
- Projects must support groups in East Gippsland’s bushfire impacted communities that were affected by the 2019/2020 bushfires
- Priority – Promoting to Not-For-Profit, incorporated associations and community groups within fire impacted areas.
- Funded activities may be community gatherings, small projects or to fund purchase of small capital items.
Funding Information
- A youth focused grant (maximum $50,000) for projects and activities that support youth focused needs;
- And a small grant (maximum $5,000) for events, projects and minor capital purchases targeted at fire impacted community groups.
What is most likely to be funded?
- Activities which have ongoing benefit to communities in East Gippsland
- Innovative undertakings
- Projects & activities that can demonstrate wide community engagement and support
- Projects which are in keeping with the purpose of the East Gippsland Community Foundation
- Project development activities that will assist the preparation of applications to other major grant programs. For example, the preparation of business plans, socioeconomic assessments, project design and costings (relevant to the youth focus grant where youth are the main beneficiary, e.g. preparation of a business plan for a youth centre etc).
Eligibility Criteria
- Projects must support recovery efforts for East Gippsland’s communities impacted by the 2019/20 summer bushfires
- Applicants can be a Not-For-Profit, community-based or charitable organisation. Project partners can auspice on behalf of these organisations if they are not able to receive income.
- Projects that the grant program supports should be completed within twelve months of funding receipt
- All applications will be required to demonstrate operational and financial stability by providing their most recent profit and loss statement
- A budget and quotes to support the amount requested are to be provided as part of the application
- Funding sources/capacity to leverage resources from elsewhere is beneficial. This includes letters of support and ‘in-kind’ resources.
