The Department of Territory Families, Housing and Communities is inviting applications from eligible individuals, organisations or community groups for a project entitled “General Grant Program” to promote gender equality in the Northern Territory.
Gender inequality affects the whole community, including women, men, and members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex and Asexual (LGBTQI+) communities.
Funding Information
If you would like to undertake a project, service or activity which addresses intersectional gender-based inequalities you can apply for a general grant of up to $5,000.
What can't be funded?
This Funding is Not Able to Support:
- any activity of a political party nature
- any activity of a commercial or business nature
- any activity that relates to personal professional development for individuals
- alcoholic beverages for the event/function
- set-up or running costs of a business, purchase of capital equipment (including hardware or software)
- retrospective funding for projects, functions, services that have already started or have been completed or items that have already been provided or previously purchased
- projects by organisations established for profit or financial gain or increased membership
- projects that duplicate existing services available to the community
- deficit budgets
- real estate purchases
- management or administration fees of the organisation or wages for staff
- promotion and advertising of the project
- fees in association with printing and stationery costs for the project
- other items that the panel assess as not meeting the aims/objectives of the grants
Eligibility Criteria
Funding is available to individuals and organisations.

To be eligible for funding an individual must:
- have met acquittal requirements for all previous funding (this grant) and complied with all other accountability requirements
- have adequately demonstrated that the grant will not duplicate funding already provided under this or other Northern Territory (NT) Government funding sources
- have completed all required information in the application form and submitted required documentation in support of your application
- reside in the NT for the duration of funded activity

To be eligible for funding an organisation must:
- be physically located and actively operating in the NT. If your organisation is physically located and actively operating outside of the NT you must partner with an NT organisation
- have met acquittal requirements for all previous funding (this grant) and complied with all other accountability requirements
- have adequately demonstrated that the grant will not duplicate funding already provided under this or other Northern Territory Government funding sources
- have completed all required information in the application form and submitted required documentation in support of your application
- have an Australian Business Number (ABN) or, if you do not have an ABN, have a completed Statement by a Supplier form (available from the Australia Taxation Office (ATO) website)
- have public liability insurance of at least $10 million
- be registered for Goods and Services Tax if your organisation earns $75,000 or more per year
