The Community Foundation of Northern Ireland (NI) is seeking proposals for the Housing and Homelessness Innovation & Voice Fund to support new or improved solutions to some of the root causes of housing issues and homelessness in Northern Ireland.
Fund Priorities
The fund will prioritise the following:
- Whilst applications from any part of Northern Ireland are eligible, projects working in rural areas or towns and cities beyond Belfast would be particularly welcome
- Projects and organisations that can demonstrate a strong track record of participation and involvement of people with lived experience of housing issues and homelessness in their work
- Projects that seek to support the most vulnerable groups, including those that are destitute, such as asylum seekers or other migrants
- Projects that seek to address how women’s experiences of violence contribute to their housing deprivation, potential or actual homelessness
Funding Information
An initial round of up to 8 grants in the range £15,000 to £25,000 will be made to voluntary, community or social enterprise organisations who wish to introduce a new approach or significantly adapt their approach to an issue (or set of issues) that can be evidenced to be contributing to housing deprivation and homelesses. These grants will be awarded in autumn 2021 and project duration should be between 12 and 15 months.
Eligibility Criteria
Constituted voluntary or community organisations who are non-statutory
Organisations with an annual income in the past financial year not exceeding £1million.
Criteria
Projects must demonstrate the following:
- Clear identification of an issue or set of issues, with evidence of how they contribute to housing deprivation and/or homelessness. Issues can be those manifesting at a local level within a particular geography or community of interest, or relate to Northern Ireland as a whole but they should be oriented towards the structural causes of housing issues and homelessness such as poverty, inadequacy of housing and public services or the lack of voice for people affected in policy and decision-making.
- Explanation of existing approaches and why they are not working sufficiently i.e. the need for innovation
- The voices and participation of those with lived experience of housing and homelessness have been central in the development of the project and will continue to be so throughout project delivery
- The proposed approach seeks to influence governmental decision making, policy and/or public services – this can be either through advocacy/participation work or through demonstrating a new approach to service delivery
